In connection with NATO summit, increased border control is started

In order to ensure successful proceedings of safety measures before NATO summit in Riga and during its process, the Latvian State Border Guard since October 11 of this year has been working in increased regime, simultaneously renewing computerized border control for all persons crossing the national border, including the citizens of the European Union, on the whole national border of the Republic of Latvia.

Such measures are necessary in order to avoid situations that the safety of Latvian inhabitants and guests is threatened.

The Ministry of Interior and the State Border Guard invites the Latvian inhabitants and guests to be understandable towards all additional safety measures, which may possibly prolong the time of border control. The State Border Guard in cooperation with other law enforcement services will take all possible steps in order to avoid any threat to the country, its inhabitants and guests.
