On Tuesday, June 29, the Cabinet issued an order to admit 69 persons to Latvian citizenship in the naturalisation order.
The ordinance 'On taking citizenship of Latvia in the naturalisation order' includes 54 applicants for citizenship, including 5 children of their minors.
Of the 49 applicants for citizenship, 71% are Russians, 16% Ukrainians, 8% Belarusians, and Lithuanians, Poles and other nationalities.
20% of applicants for citizenship are basic, 53% - average, 26% - higher education.
In the coming days, young citizens will receive a statement by post from the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA), which will include information on the person's admission to citizenship, as well as the most relevant information regarding the possibilities for drawing up the passport of the new Latvian citizen.
The OCMA recalls that, with the admission to Latvian citizenship, the legal status of the person is changed, so the passport of the former non-citizen is no longer valid for use either domestically or for travel abroad.
