On Friday, June 26, the operational group of the State Border Guard's Special Operations Service "Sigma", in the Riebiņi municipality, detained an armed shop robber for officials of the Criminal Police Department of the State Police Department in Rēzekne, Region of Latgale, after continued persecution.
An operational group of the Latvian State Border Guard Special Operations Service "Sigma", in cooperation with officials of the Criminal Police Department of the Latvian State Police Department of Latgale, detained a person who threatened an object similar to a firearm, robbed the shop.
During arrest, the person behaved aggressively, resisted, and attempted to grab a service weapon, which led to the forced use of physical force by border guards.
At the man, a gun-like object and a purse of cash were identified.
Men is placed in a temporary detention site of the State Police.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated after Section 176, Part 4 of the Criminal Law (on robbery, if committed using firearms or explosive substances, or if it is related to serious bodily injury to the victim, or if it has caused other serious consequences).
Sunday, June 28, the person shall be subject to arrest.
