On Monday, May 18, when checking information on illegal movements of excisable goods and carrying out search and persecution measures, border guards detained a Latvian citizen born in Dagda county in 1983 and removed 80,000 cigarettes on NZ Gold with Belarusian excise stamps.
Border guards of the State Border Guard Daugavpils Administration, in cooperation with border guards of the State Border Guard Aviation Administration, observed information regarding illegal movement of excisable goods, an Opel Zafira brand car was being moved in the county of Dagda. The driver did not react and continued his movement to the legitimate requirement of the border guards to stop the vehicle. The border guards launched the pursuit of Opel Zafira, which resulted in the vehicle being blocked and stopped, but the driver - Latvian citizen born in 1983 without a valid driving licence - was detained. During the car inspection, the border guards identified 6 packages wrapped in black polyethylene film. In total, border guards removed 80,000 cigarettes on NZ Gold with Belarusian excise stamps.
The border guards compiled reports of the administrative violation of the man following the fifth paragraph of Article 60K 149.5 (regarding non-compliance with the repeated or repeated requirement of a person to stop a vehicle (for an escape) authorised to inspect the driver's documents) and after paragraph 1 of Section 149.4, Paragraph six (on the driving of a vehicle if there are no driving rights) (the driving right has not been acquired or has been subtracted in accordance with the prescribed procedures).
The person is informed that administrative file materials will be sent to Daugavpils Court and to the State Police'S LRPP Kraslava precinct.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated pursuant to Section 221, Paragraph two of the Criminal Law (regarding illegal storage, transfer (transport) or marketing of alcoholic beverages or tobacco products, if so done by a group of persons after prior agreement). The person has been placed in a temporary detention site of the State Police.
