Today, 2 August, the opening event of the camp took place, where the participants were addressed by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia Anatolijs Kucevols, the Director of the Sectoral Policy Department of the Ministry of the Interior Gatis Švika, the Deputy Chief of the State Police Colonel Andris Zellis, the Head of the 5th Municipality Administration of the Youth Guard Centre Captain Sergejs Fomenko, General Guntis Pujāts, Chief of the State Border Guard, Elmārs Pļaviņš, Senior Expert on International Military-Religious Cooperation at the Ministry of Defence, Major Raimonds Krasinskis, Chaplain of the Roman Catholic Church of the National Guard, and Laura Skrodele from the “Entrepreneurs for Peace” Foundation.

From 1 August to 10 August, the youth guard instructors of the 5th Municipality Administration of the Youth Guard Centre will lead a camp and give the children from Ukraine the opportunity to get to know Latvia together and participate in various activities.

During the camp, the children will go on various excursions, including a trip to Sigulda, a photo orientation in the Old Town of Riga, a visit to the State Police cynologists and hippologists, meetings with officials from the State Police, State Fire and Rescue Service and State Border Guard, as well as a visit to the Zoo and Aquapark.
