The Citizenship and Migration Affairs Officesent letters this week regarding the elections of the Riga City Council of August 29, 2020. To voters who were registered in the administrative territory of Riga on May 31 this year, 405 649 letters have been sent to the address of the declared place of residence in Latvia with information about the polling station where the voter is registered and the serial number on the voters list of the station. The letter is not a voting document and does not have to be presented at the polling station, it is for information only. If the voter knows his serial number in the list of the polling station, the service will be smoother.
For those voters who have activated the official electronic address (eAddress), a letter about the Riga City Council elections has been sent electronically to the eAddress. A total of 3864 such letters were sent.
Riga City Council elections will take place on Saturday, August 29. Polling stations will be open for the vote from 7.00 to 22.00. Three days before the elections, it will be possible to vote in advance, on Wednesday, August 26, from 16.00 to 21.00, Thursday, August 27, from 9.00 to 16.00, and Friday, August 28, from 12.00 to 20.00. If necessary, for the first time in these elections, voters will also have the opportunity to vote in any other polling station of the Riga City Council. In this case, however, the vote should be scheduled for more time, which will be necessary for the district commission to contact the polling station and to make the change.
