On July 19, the former head of the VUGD, Juris Ļabis, who is the first general in the history of Latvia after the restoration of national independence, celebrated an important anniversary.
We heartily congratulate Juris Ļabis on his beautiful anniversary and wish him a lot of strength and health!
From 1989 to 1997, J.Ļabis headed the Fire Department of the Ministry of the Interior of Latvia, later - the State Fire and Rescue Service, but from 1997 to 2003 he was the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior of Latvia. In the 1990s, J.Ļabis organized and managed the legal bases regulating Latvian fire safety, firefighting, civil protection, state material reserves, incl. development of technical regulations and in a short time set up a strong service with a wide range of functions.
