On Thursday, February 11, the Cabinet of Ministers approved amendments to Order no. 655 “On the declaration of an emergency situation”, which stipulates that persons who will cross Latvia in transit will have to do it within 12 hours after filling in covidpass.lv.
Due to the current epidemiological situation in the country and the spread of the new type of Covid-19, during an emergency it is important to reduce the length of stay of persons crossing the border for the purpose of transit in the territory of Latvia.
As of February 15, persons are obliged to cross the territory of the Republic of Latvia in transit within 12 hours after filling in covidpass.lv.
There are also exceptions:
- an employee of a transport service provider, a member of the crew of cargo or technical voyages, who must cross the territory of the Republic of Latvia in transit within 72 hours;
- a passenger of international passenger transport who must transit through the territory of the Republic of Latvia within 48 hours;
- an aircraft passenger who crosses the territory of the Republic of Latvia in transit without leaving the controlled area of the aerodrome and staying there for no longer than 24 hours, if he or she can present confirmation of the transit flight;
- there is no hourly limit for a ship and aircraft crew member, as well as for a seafarer who has to get to or from their place of work on board a ship, aircraft.
When filling in covidpass.lv, the person who will cross Latvia in transit will do so by making a note at the beginning of filling in the confirmation. We remind you that in all other cases the electronic confirmation must be filled in within 48 hours before entering the Republic of Latvia and entry can be made only with a negative PCR test result in advance.
At present, both the home affairs services and the additional forces have been working for a long time under increased workload, with additional responsibilities to monitor compliance with epidemiological safety rules. We call on the public to be tolerant and understanding!
