On 7 December, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the allocation of 588 278 euros to the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior from the state budget programme “Contingency Funds” for the purchase of individual compact video cameras to ensure the strengthening of public order, security, road traffic control and surveillance capacities in the home affairs sector.
The purchase of video cameras will ensure the recording of administrative offences, the strengthening of evidence, including in conflict situations or situations where bribes are offered to officials, thus reducing corruption risks in the home affairs sector, as well as in the investigation of criminal offences.
The individual compact video camera will be provided to uniformed officers who ensure public order and security on a daily basis. Currently, the number of individual compact video cameras at the disposal of the institutions of the Ministry of the Interior system is insufficient.
