On Tuesday, May 26, the Cabinet issued an order entitled “On the Group of Representatives of the Republic of Latvia – Lithuania's Joint Commission on State Border”, which approves the group of Latvian representatives for work in the Latvian-Lithuanian Joint Commission.
The task of the Joint Commission will be to control the nature of the maintenance of the State border; the organisation of the inventory of the State border, as well as the coordination and resolution of issues related to the location of the State border, its marking and maintenance. The Commission shall consist of five representatives from each country. The group of representatives of Latvia will be chaired by the Chairman of the Deputy Head of the State Border Guard's Directorate for Armaments, Supplies and Technical Resources G. Indrikis, but during his absence – Deputy Head of the Category II Service of the State Border Guard Riga Zemgale, A.Bekeris.
Representatives from the State Agency for Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Latvian Geospatial Information Agency are also included in the composition of the Latvian representative group. the establishment of the Joint Commission is governed by the agreement concluded on 18 July 2019 between Latvia and Lithuania on the maintenance of the Latvian-Lithuanian State border and the activities of authorised border representatives.
