On Friday, August 21, President Egils Levits presented the highest Latvian state awards to 67 members of the public, including employees of the internal affairs services. The following top national awards were presented: the Order of the Three Stars, the Order of Viesturs and the Cross of Recognition.

The Order of Viesturs is awarded for special military merits, as well as for special merits in the national resistance movement and defense of national independence, maintenance and strengthening of national security and public order, guarding the state border, building national armed forces and inculcating national consciousness in preparing for service. and land and the unwavering protection of their country and land. 21 representatives of the society were awarded the Order of Viesturs. And among them were officials of the interior services:

- Colonel Dainis Bērziņš, Commander of the Zemgale Region Brigade of the SFRS, was awarded with the Order of Viesturs and appointed Commander of the Order of Viesturs.

- Igors Brižs, Deputy Commander of the 2nd Head of the SFRS Riga Region Board, was awarded the first degree (gilded) badge of honor of the Order of Viesturs.

- Captain Ilmārs Rubenis, Commander of the 9th Division of the Riga Regional Administration of the SFRS, was awarded the Order of Viesturs and appointed Knight of the Order of Viesturs.

- Major Andrejs Isakovs, Chief Inspector of the Operational Activities Division of the Criminal Investigation Service of the Daugavpils Department of the State Border Guard, was awarded the Order of Viesturs and appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Order of Viesturs.

- Lieutenant Colonel Mairis Plūksna, the former head of the Kurzeme I category service of the Ventspils Department of the State Border Guard, was awarded the Order of Viesturs and appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Order of Viesturs.
