On Tuesday, June 22, Interior Ministry Parliamentary Secretary Mārtiņš Šteins participated in the graduation of the Fire and Civil Protection College (FCPC) cadets.
This year, 22 FCPC graduates who have completed the first-level professional higher education program “Fire Safety and Firefighting” received FCPC first-level professional higher education diplomas for obtaining the qualification of fire safety and civil protection technician.
In his address, M. Šteins noted: “We tend to look at the security of the state and people as something big and grand, but the defense of the state starts from small things, from the decisions that we each make. It is a decision for a small child walking along the seashore to ask where his parents are. It is a decision to put on a hat and drink water during this hot weather. It is a decision to install a smoke detector. It is a decision to approach a person who is caught on the street and find out if he is all right. It is a decision not to be missed when we see violence and fights. It is a courage that many do not have but which characterizes each of you, graduates.
Career choices in the field of fire safety and civil protection are bold and selfless. You will be and are the ones who are not afraid to look at danger in their eyes and do not think twice when it comes to saving a life. A firefighter is a profession most trusted in the world. A very dangerous profession without which we would not feel safe. Thank you for choosing this profession. I wish you not to stop growing and developing and climbing the career ladder! ”
Further, graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies in the study program “Fire Safety and Civil Protection” of Riga Technical University, obtaining the 2nd level professional higher education.
We remind you that from July 19 to July 30 it is possible to apply for studies at FCPC! More information about admission rules: https://www.vugd.gov.lv/lv/media/4595/download
