The commission was established in accordance with the agreement concluded between Latvia and Uzbekistan, which provides for the exchange of information, assistance in the detection of crimes, as well as the exchange of work experience between national law enforcement authorities. Latvia and Uzbekistan have established close co-operation in researching the scale and development trends of organized crime, terrorism, illicit drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors since 2002.
