The marks the International Day for the Protection of Children on 1 June each year, as well as June is the month when the summer holiday begins for children. In order to be able to enjoy the summer without unnecessary worry and avoid unpleasant incidents, the State Police has prepared a security agreement – a model agreement between parents and children, , thus calling on older children to be reminded of safety in the summer, discussing various issues related to child safety.
State Police has prepared tips to help parents prepare their offspring for a safe summer.
Tell the responsible adult where I go - the child must tell the parents about his intentions, where he wants to go, how long he will be gone with. It's also a matter of telling you where they are.
Always to be called – if a child has already been assigned his or her mobile phone, it should be explained that parents' calls should always be answered so that parents do not worry.
Do not trust strangers – children should be reminded that foreign persons who try to draw their attention should not be trusted because it is impossible to predict the intentions of a stranger. Surely it should be reminded that a child does not let out unknown persons in the housing and does not tell others that he is alone at home.
Comply with road traffic rules - remind children of road safety. The street must be crossed through a pedestrian passage or by the green pedestrian traffic light signal, making sure in advance that the vehicles have stopped. The carriageway must not be crossed where the fence or barrier is fitted. Although it is possible to move on the outskirts of the road as opposed to the driving direction, it is most likely to move along the sidewalk. When a child is cycling, it must be remembered that the helmet must be fastened. Don't hurry! Also make sure that the bicycle has light retro-reflectors and the brakes are in the working order. A very important reminder to the children, if playing with the ball rolls down the road, you should never run straight on the road to catch it. First of all, you have to think about your safety, and only when a child is satisfied that vehicles are not driving on the road can he go after the ball. Children must be reminded that their health and life are more important than the ball.
Do not use the phone in the vicinity of the railway and the carriageway – using a mobile phone or listening to music in the headset can distract the child from what is happening around him. In order to avoid possible accidents in the vicinity of the railway or the carriageway, it is important to focus all attention on what is happening.
To be careful and respect others on the Internet: a child should be taught how to use the Internet safely, using language they understand. Similarly, children often don't even think that every word spoken on the Internet stays there, parents have to explain that sometimes the words made on the Internet are even more painful than in real life. An unknown person on the Internet, just as in real life, can't be trusted. You never know what is on the other side, so you must be careful and not disclose personal information about yourself or your family or family.
Take care of and take care of your things in – after long games outside, a child may have forgotten his toys, cell phone or other valuables. Therefore, it is recalled that care should be taken about the safety of their property, they must be held in a safe place, they must not be left unwatched, they must avoid showing valuable goods to others, as well as telling them what valuable things belong to themselves or their parents.
Always connecting a bicycle – if a child is travelling on a bicycle but wants to run into a shop or a friend for a short time, it must be borne in mind that the bicycle should never be left unattended. It must be fitted in a safe place with a safety lock, because thieves are interested not only in adult bicycles but also in children's bicycles.
Bathing only in safe places under adult supervision: in order to avoid a potential accident near the water, the child should never go swimming alone without adult supervision. Similarly, children alone should not go into the woods without the presence of adults, because there is a risk of dappling.
Not to lock in abandoned buildings and new buildings, not to play with electricity – leaving abandoned buildings and new buildings can pose a significant threat to the safety and health of the child, so it is categorically prohibited to visit such unsafe buildings in order to protect yourself from an accident. Similarly, electricity playing poses a significant threat to the health of a child from various injuries.
Do not touch or eat unknown plants and mushrooms - if a child does not know certain plants or mushrooms, you should never touch them, let alone taste them!
Do not touch foreign animals in – however sweet foreign animals encountered in the street may often be aggressive and attacked. So you shouldn't approach and touch them.
Wash hands regularly – hand washing is very important in terms of cleanliness and hygiene, but children can often forget it in their daily steps. Children should therefore be reminded of the importance of routine hand washing in order to avoid different bacteria and viruses.
Report! In cases where a child is in danger, it should be immediately reported to the police by calling 110 or 112!
It is also a very important reminder for parents themselves: in a family without adult supervision, it is not up to the older children to look after and take care of the smaller siblings. Parents often tell their larger children to look after the younger siblings of the family, but parents have to do this. It is the responsibility of parents not to leave a child under the age of seven without the presence of adults or persons under the age of 13.
To make children aware, understand and commit to the safety rules in the summer, the National Police has also prepared a model agreement between parents and children this year. the safety contract shall provide for the commitment of the child to fulfil all the items referred to in the contract. The national police wish everyone to spend a summer rich for positive feelings and adventures. Let the summer go gloriously, safely and cheerfully, we invite parents to discuss regularly and occasionally remind children of safety advice.
Have a nice summer!
