Minister for the Interior Marija Golubeva invited deputy of 13.Saeima, Executive Director and Board member of the Movement “Par!” Mārtiņš Šteins to become Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Interior. He entered his new position on 7 June 2021.
“I am interested in the work of the home affairs sector in the field of crime prevention, cross-sectoral cooperation in the field of asylum seekers, victim support and prevention of violence, and the safety of children and young people,” points out Mārtiņš Šteins.
M. Šteins stresses that the new position will help the minister to implement the priorities of promoting human rights in the field of home affairs, implementing structural reforms and strengthening cooperation with other ministries, institutions, industries and non-governmental organisations.
“Mārtiņš is a young and energetic politician and a colleague in the Saeima, Alliance and Party. His experience and knowledge will be very useful in the new work of the parliamentary secretary, ensuring cooperation between the ministry and the Saeima in the legislative process,” points out the Minister for the Interior Marija Golubeva and the member of the Board of the Movement “Par!”
Mārtiņš Šteins has three degrees of higher education in the fields of science of law, management science and education management acquired at the University of Latvia. He is 13. Saeima deputy, member of several Latvian non-governmental organisations and executive representative, as well as the Executive Director and Board member of the Movement “Par!”
