The Minister of the Interior Kristaps Eklons invited the former parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, member of the 13th Saeima and member of the Board of the Movement “For!” Mārtiņš Šteins, to become the parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of the Interior. M.Šteins will begin his duties on 26 May 2022.
In assessing the past work as parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as the experience and knowledge acquired, I decided to invite Mārtiņš Šteins to carry out the duties of parliamentary secretary in my team. Strengthening cooperation between the Ministry and the Saeima in the legislative process, between the Ministry and the NGO sector, human attitudes and energetic will be very useful things in our team,” – said the Minister of the Interior Kristaps Eklons.
My past activities in the internal affairs sector mainly relate to cooperation between the Ministry and the Saeima in the legislative process, particularly at a time when laws were adopted to accelerate the construction of the State border, to support Ukrainian civilians and other areas. At this time, I particularly emphasized the need for the internal affairs sector to work closely with non-governmental organizations on a number of issues, which also happened,” Mārtiņš Šteins points out, expressing his commitment to continue these tasks.
M. Šteins emphasized that he will help the Minister to continue his work and to carry out the tasks raised again. It is important to continue and complete the works of the former Minister Golubeva, because they have also been assessed by the internal services.
Mārtiņš Šteins has three higher educations in the fields of judicial science, management science and education management, obtained at the University of Latvia. He was the former parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of the Interior of the Minister of the Interior Marija Golubeva. He is a member of the 13th Saeima, a member of several Latvian non-governmental organizations and a representative of executive bodies, a member of the Board of the Movement “For!”, as well as a teacher of history and social knowledge of Līgatne New Leaders Secondary School.
