On Friday, June 18, the Minister of the Interior Marija Golubeva got acquainted with the main activities of the State Border Guard. During the visit, the Minister got acquainted with the surveillance of sea borders, the equipment of vessels' personnel for the operation of international operations, as well as observed a demonstration of a cynologist and a service dog.
During the visit, priorities for the protection of Latvia's external border were discussed and the readiness of border guards to respond to potential crises. As is known, irregular migration from Belarus to Lithuania and Poland increased in June. The management of the Latvian Border Guard confirmed that it closely follows developments on the border and is prepared to react if the situation escalates.
