As the Minister of the Interior Sandis Ģirģens points out: “The quality of the investigation is based on training organized by active professionals for working colleagues, as well as the exchange of experience. It is a way to improve knowledge in the daily work process ”.
Therefore, Signe Bole, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with Ineta Cīrulis, Deputy Head of the Bureau for Prevention and Combating Corruption (KNAB), and Inta Nolli, Representative of the Fourth Division of the First Department for Education, organized remote training for State Police officers. S. Bole points out: “The fight against corruption will always be a priority for the state, because corrupt crimes affect every citizen of the country, as well as the national economy as a whole. The fight against corruption-related crimes requires highly qualified staff and excellent cooperation between law enforcement agencies. Therefore, work should be done both in the training of officials and in the promotion of cooperation between operational institutions ”.
During the training, employees were explained about certain nuances of pre-trial investigation in corruption cases, as well as the competence of KNAB. Employees were also provided with a brief educational overview of the law “On Prevention of Conflicts of Interest in the Activities of Public Officials” and prevention of conflicts of interest in police work. The training was attended by about 150 employees of the State Police, who will now have even more knowledge about the work of law enforcement agencies, cooperation with the KNAB, as well as a better understanding of the application of the law “On Prevention of Conflict of Interest in the Activities of Public Officials”. The exercise took place in the framework of a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior and aimed at strengthening the rule of law and raising the quality of pre-trial investigations.
