On 15 September, the Saeima expressed its confidence in the new Minister for the Interior, Rihards Kozlovskis, who has significant professional experience in public administration in the field of internal security, as well as in the Saeima. Since 1 November 2022, R.Kozlovskis has been a Deputy of the 14th Saeima, and from 7 February 2019 until 1 November 2022 he was a Deputy of the 13th Saeima.
From 25 October 2011 until 19 January 2019, M.Kozlovskis held the post of Minister for the Interior, and from 1996 until 2005 he worked in the Security Police (SSP).
M.Kozlovskis started his professional career in internal affairs as a junior inspector in the 1st Police Battalion of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Latvia from February to May 1991.
