On Monday, August 10, the Chief of State Border Guard General Guntis Pujāts met with Juris Stukāns, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Latvia.
During the meeting, the leaders of the two institutions discussed the issues in the investigation into the criminal offences in the fight against the State Border Guard, highlighted aspects of the previous cooperation with the departments of the Prosecutor's Office for the successful provisioning of the investigation in the pre-trial process, as well as discussed the extension of the competence of the State Border Guard investigation.
The Chief of State Border Guard agreed with the Prosecutor General to continue the co-operation of State Border Guard and Prosecutor's Office departments for the promotion of effective investigation in pre-trial proceedings. . The Conceptual Consent of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Latvia, Juris Stukāns, was also reached to support the extension of the competence of the State Border Guard investigation in relation to the investigation of criminal offences determined during the performance of the duties of the State Border Guard officials during the performance of the duties of the officials.
