On Tuesday, 2 July, the Cabinet of Ministers issued an order on the transfer of state movable property to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the State Army of Ukraine free of charge.
The Latvian State Border Guard has established and maintains contacts with these institutions and is following the current situation in Ukraine. The war in Ukraine caused by Russia has led to considerable economic and financial turmoil, which also affects the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the State Army of Ukraine. As part of the cooperation, it was decided that the State Border Guard will support Ukraine as well as the personnel currently working under war conditions.
Taking into account the above-mentioned request of the representatives of the Ukrainian institutions, the State Border Guard, having assessed its material and technical base, will provide Ukraine with vehicles with equipment, helmets, tires, discs, generators, cables, as well as mobile diesel storage and refuelling systems. The movable property to be transferred is second-hand but in satisfactory technical condition. The vehicles were manufactured between 2003 and 2014.
The State Border Guard will ensure the transfer of the movable property to the Ukrainian defenders.
