On Tuesday, June 22, the Cabinet of Ministers (CM) issued regulations “Amendments to Cabinet Regulation No. 582 of 26 September 2017“ Regulations on Civil Protection Commissions of the Territorial Cooperation Area ”.
The amendments prescribe civil protection commissions for local government cooperation territories according to the administrative territorial division.
The amendments relate to the fact that, following the introduction of the reform of the administrative territory, municipalities have designated new administrative areas - territories of the municipalities of the country and municipalities, thus changing the boundaries of the administrative areas.
When the administrative borders of local governments change, 37 local government co-operation sites in place of the existing 36.
Civil Protection Commissions of Local Government Cooperation Areas play an important role in the civil protection system, as they aim to coordinate actions in the event of disaster and disaster threats, as well as to promote civil protection issues in order to ensure the safety of citizens
Part of the local governments will provide the civil protection commission for the co-operation area within one administrative area, while other municipalities will form a joint cooperation body with adjacent administrative territories - Daugavpils State city municipality with the municipality of Augšdaugava municipality, Jelgava State city municipality with Jelgava municipality. city municipality with the municipality of South Riga municipality, Rēzekne municipality with Rēzekne municipality and Ventspils State Municipality with Ventspils municipality
