Friday, July 24, at 10.00 in Buļļupe, opposite to Kapteiņu Street, Riga, there will be practical exercises organized by the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD), which will simulate the leakage of oil products into the water.
The practical training will stage a situation where a diesel fuel leak has occurred in the Pilot Channel and a large spot of oil product has formed, which is moving towards the Buļļupe. Residents, noticing this spot, call 112 and report to the VUGD. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters rescue oil products with bonnets and collect them using pumps.
The aim of this practical training is to test the skills of firefighters to carry out and manage rescue work in the water area, as well as to check the work of SFRS officials with the placement of bonuses and the collection of substances of unknown origin from the water surface.
Taking into account that several operative vehicles will go to the training venue, we urge the residents not to worry when they see the movement of operative equipment and the operation of firefighters in the Bullupe area. SFRS apologizes to the residents for the inconveniences and possible anxiety caused by the movement of operational transport!
