On Tuesday, December 1, the Cabinet of Ministers approved amendments to regulations no. 655 "On the declaration of a state of emergency", the State Border Guard (VRS) in cooperation with the National Armed Forces and the State Police (VP) will intensify monitoring from December 7 whether persons entering Latvia have filled in the electronic confirmation on the website "covidpass.lv".
From October 12, everyone entering Latvia must fill in the electronic confirmation form on the website "covidpass.lv". We would also like to remind you that persons entering Latvia from countries where the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants exceeds 50 must observe self-isolation for 10 days.
Completion of the certificate is mandatory for all immigrants, and it must be done not earlier than 48 hours before crossing the Latvian border. Upon arrival in Latvia, immigrants are informed about the mandatory completion of the questionnaire by text message.
After filling in the confirmation form, the immigrant receives a personalized QR code, which confirms the submission of data. If the QR code is lost, the function “receive QR code” has been created again on the website “covidpass.lv” by entering the e-mail address.
Border residents of Latvia who study, work or receive medical services in Lithuania or Estonia, as well as citizens and permanent residents of the European Union Member States declared in Valka municipality and Valga parish (Estonia) who cross the Latvian land border with Estonia on a daily basis by filling in an electronic certificate questionnaire every 30 days. By December 4, 290,000 users had visited the covidpass.lv website and a total of 140,000 questionnaires had been submitted, with an average of less than five minutes. Two-thirds of visitors to the site have used the mobile device.
The electronic immigrant registration system IECIS is intended as an electronic self-declaration system (confirmation questionnaire) for persons arriving or returning to Latvia from abroad, and has been developed by the Information Center of the Ministry of the Interior in cooperation with the VP, VRS and the Center for Disease Prevention and Control.
