On August 21, the officials of the State Police Vidzeme Region Administration Cēsis Police station, together with the legal guards of the Vidzeme Region Administration, carried out a preventive check on road traffic in the service area of the Cēsu precinct. During the test, several drivers were found to be roughly violating road traffic rules, well above the permitted speed of driving. .

On Friday, August 21, afternoon, the law guards spotted and stopped a hasty driver of Renault Laguna, who, outside the residential area, was driving his vehicle at a permitted speed of 90 km/h, at a speed of 149 km/h, at around 13.20 in the Limbažu municipality, Umurga-Cēsis-Līvi (3 km). .

The driver of the Renault car explained that he had exceeded his speed because he had previously carried out an override manoeuvre in front of the car. . However, needless to say, the driver of the vehicle, which was overtaken by the Renault driver, also exceeded the permitted speed of driving – he was driving at 129 km/h instead of the allowed 90 km/h.

An administrative penalty applied to the driver of Renault — a fine of 48 penalty units of €240 — also imposed a three-month ban on driving rights.

Nor did the other rushing motorist, who was overtaken, go unnoticed. . The driver of the vehicle was suspended by the law guards and was subject to an administrative penalty – a fine of 16 fine units of EUR 80.

While continuing patrolling in nearby areas, police officers locked and stopped a particularly fast driver of the Honda motorcycle, outside the residential area, at the Valmiera-Cēsis-Drabeši motorway (30 km), driving his vehicle at a speed of 159 km/h.

The driver of the motorcycle has been subjected to an administrative penalty for this infringement: a fine of 72 units of penalty of EUR 360 and a six-month ban on driving rights.

National police are calling on drivers not to be reckless on the road – to respect the permitted speed of driving and not to go aggressively, as every driver is responsible for feeling safe on the road himself and the surrounding road users.
