Thursday, August 27, at 11 .00 State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) in civil protection training organised by Ventspils Free Port Company AS Ventbunkers in Ventspils.

According to the study scenario, a fire occurred at Ventbunkers oil product quay and a leak of petroleum products in the port water area has occurred. The purpose of the training is to examine the established procedures and measures in the event of disaster threats set out in the civil protection plan of Ventbunkers, to examine cooperation between the authorities involved, as well as to improve the practical skills of the staff of the Ventspils part of the VUGD Kurzeme Region Brigade and the personnel of the fire services involved in the fire-fighting services at the oil quay, limiting product leakages and collecting pollution in the port water area.

Officials and employees from AS Ventbunkers, VUGD, the Emergency Medical Service and Ventspils Regional Environmental Administration will participate in the planned training, as well as the fire-fighting and rescue services of VK Terminal Services and Ventspils nafta terminal, and the Ventspils Free Port oil-waste group.

The training industry calls on citizens not to worry if fire-fighting transport movements are seen and fire rescuers are operating on the site of the company. The VUGD apologises to the citizens for the burdens and potential worry caused by the movement of operational transport.

Such civil protection training at sensitive facilities shall take place once every three years.
